happy easter!

So many thoughts bounced around my mind of what to post about Easter. I did make sugar cookies to give to our neighbors, but they weren’t Easter-themed and I didn’t have time to write a long post for today. I also had a ton of Easter-themed songs pop into my head, but I decided to just share one of my favorite hymns that is appropriate at Easter and year-round.

In Christ Alone
Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found;
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all—
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev’ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine—
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow’r of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand.

I also came across this image, and I really like it.

You can read all of Isaiah 53 here.

I suppose, though, that that image is more appropriate for Good Friday because the Good News of Easter is that, though Christ died for our sins, He is no longer dead! He is alive! And His resurrection is why I have eternal life today!

Now that you know one of my most favorite Easter (and year-round) hymns, I’d love to hear your favorite part of celebrating Easter.

  1. Happy Easter!! One of may favorite things to do on Easter is to celebrate with other believers at church. For me that was four times today since our church had four services this morning and I sang in the choir all four times. All four times God blessed me with remembering the awesome sacrifice He made for me.

    I also enjoy getting together with family. We are gathering at Monna’s house with Brian’s fiancée and her family for a late afternoon meal. I wish you and Russell could be here.
